  1. more to the point, this bill appears to be a total failure in the realm of providing patients with appropriate information to make reasoned and informed medical decisions for themselves, and it also seems designed to get around that pesky “first do no harm” directive in the medical profession.

the full text of teh bill is in a link on my link; pdf format.

    • kathy – Have actually read the bill itself, most disturbing, preparing an ethics review on the topic as we speak. Keep those comments coming! (Sorry did not respond – when the site went down I seem to have gone with it…)

      • dr. peggy, sorry for ranting somewhat incoherently the other day. this kansas bill provides a “conscience” exception for doctors who think some forms of birth control work by means they consider equivalent to abortions. in the case of a pregnant woman with cancer, a doctor is permitted to not offer chemotherapy that might disrupt the pregnancy, not tell the patient about the withholding, and not refer her to someone else.

i’ve referred back to your excellent posts about other laws intruding on medical ethics and women’s health. i hope the medical profession speaks out forcefully.

    • i’m not sure if this is awaiting moderation because you missed it, or if i’m just making too much noise. OK to delete if it is off-track.

  3. Hi, love your blog. Did you do anymore biking trips that is accessible by public transportation from NYC? I am bored with riding the Westside Greenway already and read to try something different. Would love your recommendation. The Harlem Riding Trail was a great rec. Thanks 🙂
